How rebirth works

Each time you rebirth, you reset your in-game progress and receive a permanent +5% passive income bonus. The bonus stacks across rebirths and never resets - it is permanently applied to every pet's income on your account.

Because the bonus is passive income, it compounds with your pet roster: every rebirth makes every future pet worth more. This is why rebirths are the primary end-game progression path once you have mastered the biome ladder.

Rebirth ladder (community times)

Times below are community-reported estimates and vary with gamepasses like X2 Money and X2 Growth:

RebirthTotal bonusTimeNote
Rebirth 1+5%~1 hourEarly bonus - cheap and worth doing fast
Rebirth 2+10%~2 hoursIncome ramp starts to show
Rebirth 3+15%~4 hoursMid-game plateau
Rebirth 4+20%~6 hoursPairs with the first Mythic eggs
Rebirth 5+25%~10 hoursThe heavy grind begins
Rebirth 6+30%~14 hoursCurrent max rebirth - end-game goal

Speed 150 - the mutation threshold

The Speed 150 milestone doubles your base mutation chance from roughly 2% to 4%. Before you rebirth, consider whether your Speed is close to this threshold - hitting it first gives your next run a much better mutation rate from the start.

When should you rebirth?

  • Early rebirths (1-3): do them as fast as possible. The +5%/+10%/+15% bonus outpaces the small reset cost.
  • Mid ladder (4-5): time rebirths with Mythic egg milestones so your first Mythic pets hatch under the higher bonus.
  • Rebirth 6: the ~14-hour grind. Only commit when your roster can sustain the reset without stalling.

Rebirth vs. biome progression

Rebirth resets progress, so there is a tension between grinding biomes and rebirthing. A good rule: rebirth when the +5% passive bonus will speed up your next biome push more than the current bonus does. Once you hold Rebirth 5 or 6, your passive income is so strong that biome gates become speed checks, not income checks.

The ULTIMATE GUIDE to Become a PRO In Steal an Egg (fast progression)

A focused progression guide: how to stack Speed, complete the Index, hunt secret eggs, and snowball income from a fresh account.

  • Steal the BIGGEST eggs you can — a 1M kg Brontosaurus earns ~$11M/s vs ~$5M/s for a small pet; size = income.
  • Buy better Trails (Eternal/Divine tiers) for Speed, and claim the free 10,000 Speed from join-group / favorite / like.
  • Complete your Index: each new pet pays out Speed + cash (lake pet = 3,500 Speed + $30,000; an Eternal can pay 2M Speed + $25B).
  • Watch global chat for secret-egg spawns (e.g. T-Rex in Prehistoric); the easiest spawn in Snow (only 170k Speed to steal). One secret egg can 100x your progress.
  • Cosmic eggs are best once you are fast; the Fuse Machine combines 3 of the same pet into a bigger one for free; night grows eggs ~30x faster.

Rebirth FAQ

What does rebirth do in Steal an Egg?

Each rebirth resets your progress and grants a permanent +5% passive income bonus that never goes away. Higher rebirths are the main end-game progression path.

How long does Rebirth 5 take?

Rebirth 5 takes roughly 10 hours of active grinding. Rebirth 6 is steeper at about 14 hours.

Does rebirth reset my Speed?

Rebirth resets your overall progress for the bonus, so plan your rebirth around your biome goals. Speed milestones like the Speed 150 mutation double are worth hitting before you reset.
